Bawarchi literally means "The Chef". The name got it's prominence from Emperor Akbar's Dynasty as he was known to love great gourmet food very well presented and therefore his Head Chef was a very important person in his Kingdom. Sometimes the Minister's in the Emperor's Cabinet would use the Chef to influence their plea or new laws and it became a fact that "if you could not get the Emperor to agree with something, convince the Head Chef and he may be able to get it done.....

Also in the 70's, Rajesh Khanna, a mega Movie star of India, featured in a movie "Bawarchi" which was a legendary hit.
Today "The Bawarchi" comprises of a Bar, Restaurant and a Banquet Hall, which can seat about 200 persons and is very conveniently located at the Shoppers World Mall (North of Mississauga and the Brampton Bus stand – North West corner of the Intersection of Hurontario Street and Steeles Avenue).
